Stone Mountain Park
“It was important for us to work with someone who understood the brand concept and was willing to be an integral part of the process"
Stone Mountain Park in Stone Mountain, GA offers its visitors a chance to experience rugged terrain and a naturally beautiful landscape within a stone’s throw of Atlanta’s bustling urban environment. These features make the park a natural destination for those who love the outdoors. The park’s most visible man-made focal point is the remarkable Confederate Memorial Carving prominently etched on the face of Stone Mountain. A day at Stone Mountain blends art, entertainment, and exercise with a true back-to-nature experience.
“Our goal has always been to serve people, to provide shared experiences that bring families closer together in the great outdoors, and to provide a safe, clean environment for our guests. When Crossroads opened 7 years ago, it was themed around the 1870’s. When we made the conscious decision to change the focus of the park and capitalize on today’s wonderful environment and outdoor adventure opportunities, it was obvious that we would need to do a complete overhaul of our wardrobe program as part of that change,” says Stan Morrell, Director, Guest Experience, Entertainment & Special Events.
“It was important for us to work with someone who understood the brand concept and was willing to not only offer ideas, but also allow us to be an integral part of the process,” says Lynne Dundon, Manager of Guest Experience and Wardrobe.
The staff at Stone Mountain conducted focus groups with a variety of their own employees in their search for the right company. “It was critical we find a company with ‘volume’ corporate clothing experience who could also come in at a reasonable price point with the right kind of styles and fabric for our unique needs,” she says. “And we knew we needed a partner who would be there for us as we further develop our long term objectives with this new brand.”
The tight time frame within which Stone Mountain needed to transition their uniform program added to the challenge. “Not only was OOBE able to meet the demands of an aggressive schedule, but they also had the capacity to manage a good portion of our overall inventory, something you typically don’t see from a vendor,” said Dundon. “In most cases, once we place an order, we’ll receive the entire shipment at once, and then need to find the resources and space to store it all. OOBE was able to eliminate a step in that process and that ultimately saved us money.”
